Why these numbers

The Jackal is the lightest and twitchiest muscle car — a short wheelbase over a live rear axle, so it snaps into oversteer when you lift and hops the axle over bumps. Everything here adds rear grip and calms the tail: the softest rear springs and rear anti-roll bar of the group, a slightly raised rear to let the axle work, and toe-in to steady it on lift.

The Differential matters as much as ever, but the lock is eased back — a fully locked diff snaps this light car loose on power. It still runs locked on loose and opener on grip; the coast side is turned up to steady the lift-off snap. Reward smooth inputs: this car punishes a stab or a sudden lift. Brake Pressure’s scale runs 50–150%, so 100% is mid-travel, not the maximum.

Why these changes

Asphalt gives the Jackal real grip, but the live axle still hops over kerbs and the tail still snaps on a greedy lift. The springs and bars stiffen and the car drops, but the rear stays the softest end and rides a touch higher than usual to let the axle absorb bumps instead of hopping. The diff opens up further on grip so it can’t break both rear wheels loose together.

Be smooth with the throttle and gentle over the kerbs — a mid-corner bump can step this short car out before you feel it coming.

Why these changes

Gravel suits the light Jackal well and sits close to the hybrid. The loose surface takes the edge off the snap, so you can lean on the rotation — steer it with the throttle and keep corrections small, which matters doubly on a twitchy car and a pad where a big stick input overshoots.

Keep your inputs smooth and let it rotate on power; do not try to hold it dead straight.

Why these changes

Mud is the lowest-grip surface, and a light car both spins and locks easily — ease the brake pressure and feed the throttle gently. Soften everything and raise the ride height to clear the ruts, and lock the diff up more than you would on grip to drive both rear wheels.

Smooth is fast here — a stab of power or a sharp lift lights the tail up before the loose surface can catch it.

Overview

The Jackal is a Fox Body Mustang, the lightest and twitchiest of the muscle group. A short wheelbase over a live rear axle gives it a nervous edge the heavier cars do not have: it snaps into oversteer when you lift, the axle hops over bumps, and the rear wheels spin up easily. It rewards smooth hands and punishes greedy inputs.

How it drives

On tarmac the Jackal turns in eagerly for a muscle car, but the same lightness that makes it agile makes it edgy. Lift off mid-corner and the rear can snap out quickly, and the live axle skips and hops over rough patches, upsetting the car just when you want it settled. Power down cleanly and it is quick; ask for too much and it lights the rear tyres and steps out.

On loose surfaces it is all too happy to rotate — easy wheelspin and snap oversteer mean you feed the power in progressively rather than stabbing it. Smooth throttle keeps the tail in check; abrupt inputs send it around.

In a pack it is the vulnerable one of the muscle cars: lighter than the rest, so contact moves it more, and a hit that arrives mid-slide can spin it. Keep it planted and pick your fights.
