Testing Grounds

mixed

Not a race track — a physics playground full of ramps, cannons, crushers and stunt props for messing with the car and learning how it behaves.

Testing Grounds is not a circuit and there is no race to win here. It is a sandbox packed with stunt hardware — ramps, barrel stacks, a car cannon, crushers, jumps, and a set of tuning-demo props — meant for driving around freely and seeing how the car reacts.

What it is actually good for

Treat it as a place to feel changes rather than chase a time. Because nothing is at stake, it is the ideal spot to:

  • Learn a new car’s limits — how it brakes, how quickly it rotates, how it lands off a jump — without a pack of rivals punishing every mistake.
  • A/B a tuning change back to back. Make one adjustment on the tuning guides, come here, and drive the same ramp or corner before and after to feel what actually moved.
  • Get comfortable with contact and recovery — bumping objects, spinning, and gathering the car back up — in a low-stakes setting before it matters in a race.

What to work on here

Everything you learn on the race tracks starts as a feel for the car, and this is the fastest place to build that feel. When you change a setup and cannot tell whether it helped, bring it here and isolate the one thing you changed. Then take it back to a real venue like FinnCross or Savolax and confirm it under racing conditions.
